The NHL head honchos have seen enough, and the pathetic sight of young athletes wobbling across the ice, or being stretchered every week was tough on everyone’s digestive tracks. In an odd situation the National Hockey Leagues Players Association refused to back the newly implemented rules that were ordered to protect today’s players. The NHL competition committee also wants more time to consider the new rules, regarding hits to the head.
A funeral, it seemed, was the only way to get someone’s attention.
As a former player, and coach I must admit that to me, the respect factor Is not there any longer. The average player today is bigger faster and in herculean condition.
